The Benefits of Acne Laser Treatment over Traditional Cures

Acne laser treatment is often recommended for dealing with scarring when other treatments and remedies, especially cortisone injections, have failed to have an effect. Another lesser known treatment for acne scars is cryotherapy, which uses a process to repeatedly freeze the scars to gently reduce and shrink the scar tissue.

These laser treatments are a process for curing an already existing case of acne - not for preventing acne from occurring in the first place. While prevention is always better than a cure, with skin conditions like acne that is not always possible.

A Non Invasive Drug Free Treatment

As you would expect, this form of therapy is completely non invasive and totally drug free. The success rate is very high, and when combined with other forms of treatment including various medications and preventative methods, the results can be exceptional.

Laser treatment works by shining a low power light beam onto the affected skin areas. The light is soft but very intense, and this intensity helps reduce the amount of oil secreted by the skin and pores.

The light has also been shown to actually kill the bacteria that creates the acne in the first place - so the bacteria dies and the skin is allowed to heal. One of the additional benefits is that the light therapy is also believed to stimulate the production of collagen. The extra collagen then helps to heal the skin, reduce the scarring and improve the overall tone of your complexion.

As more and more test and studies are carried out using laser treatments and light therapy, the positive results are helping the process gain a lot of credibility and popularity. There have been no known negative side effects reported, and the overall success rate for patients has been very high. Results tend to come quicker than when using more traditional methods, and skin tone is generally improved.

The process is also being found to be effective for treating acne vulgaris, which is supported by many clinical trials. Over seventy percent of patients treated this way responded in a favorable manner. The trials also showed that over twenty percent of patients showed a reduction of acne on over 90 percent of their skin area.

More traditional acne treatments like drug based medications and skin cleansers can take anywhere up to 6 or 8 months before results are noticeable, but with laser treatments, results can be noticeable in as little as 12 weeks.

There are many options and home use products available for acne laser treatments, but it’s always best to start by consulting a professional and/or your doctor. Don’t take chances with your health - no matter how tempting it may be.
